Vút Bay

Brief Recap & Campaign Objective

“Vút Bay” is a cinematic viral clip devoted to the handcrafted kite tradition of Bá Dương Nội village in Hà Nội. The objective was to reawaken affection for this heritage craft by following the kite’s journey through time—how it rises from the hands of artisans, survives changing eras, and still finds its place in contemporary skies—through a short, emotionally charged film made to be shared.

The Creative Approach

We treated the kite as both object and protagonist. The film is structured in three fluid phases—origin, transition, present—so viewers feel the continuity of one spirit moving through different decades rather than three separate stories. The creative tone balances documentary intimacy (real people, real workshops, real fields) with poetic, cinematic framing that makes every lift-off feel like a small act of faith.

Ideation & Explorations

From the three-phase structure, we shaped a simple emotional arc: In the beginning, the kite is all hands and craft—wood, paper, string, paint—anchored in village rituals and the quiet pride of the artisans. In the middle, the kite becomes a witness to change, passing over rooftops and landscapes that gradually morph, as children and play styles evolve. In the present, it returns as a bridge between generations, reminding a fast-paced city that some games are worth keeping. Throughout, our writing avoided nostalgia for its own sake; the idea was not “things were better then” but “this beauty still belongs to us now, if we choose it.”
